Dear Friends,
I want to take the opportunity to extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for supporting my campaign for Delegate to represent the 36th District of Virginia! Thank you for your support, thank you for your action and thank you for your vote! To each of you who gave of your time, talent and treasure to support the Cannon for Delegate Campaign this year - this could not have happened without you. It is because of our efforts and hard work that we were able to garner over 8,444 votes totaling 40% of the vote.
There is much to be proud of that you and I accomplished in our short 60-day campaign. I think you would agree that we had quite a positive impact on those we were able to reach in this compressed time frame. We had strong Republican voters supporting us, we had self identified Independents supporting us and we had solid Democrats supporting us on election day. I have many stories that I could share with you from election day alone at each of the polling locations I visited. Whether it be responses like, "it is time for a change," or "you are the only Republican I voted for" or "I like what you have to say and we need a solid, smart representative who will represent us in Richmond.". These were just some of the comments that voters told me after they had voted. I share this to let you know that we did have an impressive impact and we truly did accomplish something remarkable.
To those of you who did not have the time to support the campaign or were not yet convinced to vote for me as your Representative, I thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and I look forward to getting to know you more in the next two years. I ask you to stay involved and to please send me a quick note with your contact information so that we can keep in touch over the next two years ahead of the next election. I value your support and your friendship!
Please include in your note what matters to you and what you need for your family, your business and your neighborhood - the "Listening Tour" begins now. In the coming months and years I want to hear from you, I want to listen to you so that I can better know who you are and what you need. I plan to run again in 2011 for this Delegate seat and believe that with our positive message and your input we will achieve a different outcome.
Thanks again for your support and for the honor to be on the ballot representing the district. I believe in you and our capacity to get things done. Never forget that each vote counts and that I will be working hard to earn every single one!
