Hugh “Mac” Cannon will bring a fresh perspective, new leadership, and accountability to Virginia House of Delegates. His strong values and work ethic will result in solutions that will reflect the needs of the community. He will stress fiscal responsibility and work for a better business environment during his term in office. Cannon will make it a priority to reduce traffic congestion and promote a zero tolerance crime policy for sexual predators, violent offenders and drug dealers.
Professional Life
A certified association executive, Cannon brings exceptional experience from both the non-profit and the for-profit business arena. Cannon joined the Association Management Group Inc. (AMG) in Tysons Corner in 2006, as the Executive Director of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Metropolitan Washington. There Cannon has gained unique insight to the rail-to-Dulles project.
Prior to joining AMG, Cannon served as a Senior Program Manager in the Leadership Department of the Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM) in Reston. While at SNM he served as the Administrator of the certification for the American Board of Science and Nuclear Medicine as well as a primary staff liaison for the American College of Nuclear Physicians. Cannon understands the importance of medical research and the resulting benefits to patients and medical practitioners.
Personal Life
Cannon was born and raised in Oakton, Virginia. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech; he holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business with a focus in Marketing Management. He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and is an active committee volunteer. Cannon is also a member of the Knights of Columbus and Ducks Unlimited. Cannon is married to Amy and has three children. They currently reside in South Reston, where Cannon serves as the neighborhood watch coordinator.
