The Question asked is: "Where's Ken"?
After being in the state legislature and representing the 36th district for 30 years, one would think that our current delegate would understand that he needs to do more than just constituent service (responding to calls in to his office and sending out blanket citizen handbooks). While constituent services are important, it is outward actions that show interest in serving. Below is compiled a brief list of instances where our delegate is missing from our community.
- Back to School Nights [ Cannon personally attended over 20 / Ken Plum - did not attend one]
- Reston Multicultural Festival [ Cannon attended even while it began to rain / Ken Plum - did not attend]
- Light the Night at Reston Town Center [ Cannon attended the entire evening / Ken Plum - did not attend]
- Oktoberfest [ Cannon Campaign attended / Ken Plum - did not attend]
- Jazz Fest [ Cannon attended / Ken Plum - did not attend]
These instances are important to note, because if a candidate is not willing to be out in the community meeting his constituents, attending important community events and even standing outside our community grocery stores to introduce himself - you wonder if he takes it seriously or if he has other responsibilities that are keeping him out of district.
My opponent seems to care more about getting other fellow party members elected and is spending his time to campaign for them across the state and raise money for their campaigns. When we are in a time of economic difficulty and people are still losing jobs and trying to believe in a better future around the next corner shouldn't there be concern for your neighbor? Shouldn't someone work to earn the votes of every citizen, to earn the priviledge to hold OUR seat in the House Assembly?
Think about what you have seen in this election campaign in the 36th district. Who has the energy? Who has the message? Who is out there getting to know each of you in your own neighborhoods and listening to your concerns? Mac Cannon is and he will continue to do so after the election. Vote on November 3rd and choose a new path for our community. Vote for change, for bi-partisanship, for common sense concensus building. Let's move things forward instead of talking about years gone by - it's time for Positive Change, it is time for Mac Cannon.
